Lori Austin, LISW-S, LCSW, LICSW, MA and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner offers psychotherapy for children and adults. She works with her clients to bring body, mind and spirit together through somatic experiencing, play and improv, healing and growth. Lori uses cutting-edge evidence-based practices acknowledging trauma, transitions and accepting the gift of who you are.

Lori has been working in the field of social work for 25 years and as a clinician for 20. She is licensed in the states of Maryland (LCSW-C),Ohio (LISW-S), Maine (LCSW)and Massachusetts(125348). Most of her extensive work has been with children and adults via community mental health, schools, community private practice and as a Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC). Lori has also worked in the substance abuse field (including in Dublin, Ireland). Her varied but extensive experience has led her to become a clinician who understands many different populations and age groups. She is trained as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner through Somatic Experiencing International. She believes in a holistic approach that takes into account mind, body and spirit and that our “authentic selves” are capable of healing.
Services
Individual Counseling
(for adults and children)
You can expect to find a loving and caring environment where you can express yourself freely and explore avenues of healing. Our work together will include modalities like Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, motivational interviewing and brief-solution focused therapy. Spirituality, improv and play can be interwoven in sessions as well.
Family sessions/parenting skills
Working with children also means working with family. You know your child best and we can offer each other strength and wisdom to help your child grow and flourish.
Groups
Small groups can be formed when enough interest is piqued! Applied improvisation groups for fun and laughter and self-growth. As well as therapy groups for spouses and families in the military, spirituality in the LGBTQ community, etc.
